The colonial-inspired Bungalow perched atop of Bukit Ledang served as a family home for many years, but it was currently dated and in need of an interior revitalisation. The client collected a myriad of artwork and vintage heirloom furniture; thus the challenge was to find a design which would bode well with their unique finds. We also wanted to create rooms that worked well with their lifestyle and provide a modern and workable living and entertaining space for their family. The Living Room yielded very little natural light and felt quite dark and uninviting. We allowed more natural light to come through the space by introducing floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors which filled the room with sunlight and the retractable sliding doors gave an indoor-outdoor feel, bringing the lush, tropical gardens to view.
'Eclectic Elegance' was the defining theme throughout the space, where geometric prints merge seamlessly with organic forms and antique furniture. Jewel tones and hand-painted De Gournay wallpaper are interspersed throughout the space for a uplifting injection of colour. We wanted to highlight the old meets new in an exciting and dynamic way.
